01
Choosing a storage unit
What storage unit sizes are available?+
We have three practical unit sizes:
Small — 2 x 2m Medium — 3 x 3m Large — 6 x 3m
Every unit is ground level with direct drive-up access, so you can park at your roller door and load or unload without lifts, stairs or long corridors.
What size storage unit do I need?+
Our Small units are ideal for boxes, documents, tools and seasonal gear.
Medium units suit furniture, appliances and the contents of around a two-bedroom home.
Large units work well for larger household moves, business stock and suitable boats, trailers or vehicles.
Tell us what you’re storing and we’ll help you choose the most practical size, without paying for space you don’t need.
Can I move to a different-sized unit later?+
Yes. If your storage needs change and another suitable unit is available, talk to us and we’ll help you move into a larger or smaller space.
02
Pricing and availability
How much does a storage unit cost?+
Rates depend on the unit size and current availability.
Send us an enquiry or call 0800 12 8482 and we’ll confirm the best available rate for your unit.
All quoted rates include GST.

Are there any administration fees or hidden charges?+
We keep our pricing straightforward.
There are no administration fees, unnecessary add-ons or surprise charges. We’ll clearly explain the rate and payment terms before you move in.
Do I need to sign a long-term contract?+
No. Our flexible terms allow you to store for as little or as long as you need.
Your first month is paid in advance.
How do I check availability?+
Send us a quick enquiry with the size you need, what you’re storing and your preferred move-in date.
We’ll confirm availability and your rate as quickly as possible.
How quickly can I move in?+
If a suitable unit is available and your paperwork has been completed, you may be able to move in that day.
Contact us first and we’ll let you know what is available.
03
Access and security
When can I access my unit?+
You can access your storage unit seven days a week, year-round, during our standard access hours of 6am–9pm.
Can I drive directly to my storage unit?+
Yes. Every Cocoon unit is ground level and opens directly onto the driveway.
You can park at your roller door and move belongings straight between your vehicle and unit.
How secure is the facility?+
Cocoon Storage is gated, securely fenced and monitored by CCTV.
You supply your own padlock, which means you control the keys to your individual unit.
Do I need to bring my own padlock?+
Yes. Bring a good-quality padlock for your roller door.
You keep the keys, so only you and anyone you authorise can open your unit.
04
Moving in and storing your belongings
What do I need when moving in?+
Once your storage agreement is complete, bring your belongings, any packing materials you need and a suitable padlock for your unit.
It’s also worth bringing protective covers, blankets or plastic containers for items you want to keep particularly well protected.
What can I store in my unit?+
You can store most normal household and business belongings, including furniture, appliances, boxes, documents, tools, sporting equipment and non-perishable business stock.
What items can’t be stored?+
You cannot store anything illegal, stolen, hazardous, flammable, explosive, toxic, environmentally harmful or perishable.
Food, plants, animals and anything that could attract pests or create a risk to the facility are also prohibited.
Contact us before moving in if you’re uncertain about a particular item.
Are my belongings insured by Cocoon Storage?+
No. Your belongings remain your responsibility while they are in storage.
You should arrange appropriate insurance for their full replacement value and check whether your existing contents or business policy covers goods stored away from your home or premises.
05
Vehicle, boat and trailer storage
Can I store a car, boat or trailer?+
Yes, provided it fits safely inside our Large 6 x 3m unit.
This is the only Cocoon unit suitable for vehicle, boat and trailer storage.
The Large unit roller door measures 2560mm wide by 2560mm high.
How do I know whether my vehicle will fit?+
Measure the vehicle’s complete length, width and height before enquiring.
Include mirrors, roof fittings, trailer drawbars, motors and any other points that extend beyond the main body.
Send us the measurements and we’ll help you assess whether the unit is suitable, but final responsibility for checking the fit remains with you.
What should I do before storing a vehicle?+
Make sure the vehicle is clean, dry and appropriately insured.
Contact us before moving in so we can confirm availability, fit and any storage requirements that apply to your particular vehicle.
06
Moving out
What do I need to do when moving out?+
Remove all of your belongings, rubbish and your padlock.
Sweep the unit and leave it empty and tidy, then let us know you’ve finished so we can close your account.
Can I leave unwanted belongings behind?+
No. All belongings and rubbish must be removed from the unit and the facility.
Additional removal or disposal costs may apply if anything is left behind.

Still have a question?
Cocoon Storage is owned by three local families, so you’ll deal directly with people who know the facility, not a call centre.
Tell us what you’re storing and when you need the space. We’ll help you choose the right unit and confirm availability and pricing.
